Founded in 1907, Tonopah became the home of the Mizpah Hotel, which was once the tallest building in the state of Nevada. It became the heart of the town and helped provide lodging, libations, and entertainment and helped fuel the silver rush in Nevada.
The hotel has seen its share of ups and downs and has gone through many owners. Because of its special meaning to Fred and Nancy Cline, they purchased the Mizpah in early 2011. The rebirth of the Mizpah is helping to revitalize Tonopah, which is the ancestral hometown where Nancy's great uncle made his home and mined for silver.

The Mizpah has been the center of attention with many paranormal groups and enthusiast claiming to have seen the Lady In Red, a couple of children and some minors. The hotel had a psychic come in to try to identify the entities. She named the Lady In Red as Rose, which was her 'call name.' Her real name is Evelyn Mae Johnson. Rose worked as a prostitute at the Mizpah and died on January 2, 1914, when one of the gamblers who frequented Rose's room, returned and found her with another customer and flew into a rage, chased her down the hallway and killed her.
During our trip to Tonopah on Friday the 13th, Candy and I were attending a radio event we were taking part of at The Clown Motel. We went to the Mizpah for dinner and afterward gained access to the fourth and fifth floor. We were with Charlie and Samantha from the radio show Haunted and Alone, Jay, the producer of the radio show and Michael, Candy's husband.
We all rode the elevator to the fourth floor. It was like walking back in time to see the furniture and lighting from that era. The feeling in the hallway was like any other hotel. The only activity on the fourth floor was a blue orb that was flashing back and forth between us.

We got onto the elevator and rode up to the fifth floor where most of the activity claims to take place. Immediately the feeling on the floor was off, almost dizzying. I walked with Charlie and Samantha down the hallway towards the end, while Candy stayed near the elevator. Michael and Jay sat down and watched us all moving around. I started walking back towards the elevator and turned into the enclave that led to two doors. Candy started feeling pain in her head. Something drew me to the doors, and when I turned around, I felt a sharp pain in my head as well. We continued talking about what had happened to the male energy. We both said he was hit in the head, or shot.
Charlie and Samantha made their way back to where we were and we kind of switched places with them and went down towards the end of the hallway, near room 504.
I felt a hand brush across my cheek and mentioned it to the group. But it was as if no one was hearing me. I continued to walk. Then I felt a hand on the back of my neck. A hand brushed my cheek again, and then my heart started pounding in my chest and tears filling my eyes. I heard Jay telling Charlie that he heard a woman crying. I could see the shape of a woman's face over mine as if I were looking through a mask. I saw through gray colored eyes. I turned to Candy and remembered asking her "What is happening?" I could not stop the tears from flowing down my cheeks. I lifted my hand to my face and asked her, "Why am I crying?" I didn't understand. I felt disoriented as if I was not myself, and I wasn't!

Candy knew what had happened and pulled me into the entryway of the two doors and grabbed my hand. She was telling her it was time to go. My head was shaking no. I could hear a voice say, "I can't. I have to stay." Candy insisted several times trying to help her energy move on and leave the hotel. I vaguely remember seeing Samantha taking pictures and heard Jay come around the corner and ask, "Is she okay." Samantha responded, but I don't recall what she said because I had to get Candy to stop trying to push the energy to the light. "Candy, she does not want to go. She's telling me she has to stay here. It was where he knew she was at and where he will come to find her." When I finally shook Rose's energy from me, I explained this to Candy. The man she loved was supposed to come and take her from the there. If she didn't stay, she would miss him.
We all left and went down to the lobby and spoke with the hotel reception about the activity in the hotel. We asked about the Lady In Red. I asked, what about other people who died in the hotel. She said there was a night clerk on duty when men came in and bludgeoned him to death behind the desk. I commented that he lived in the hotel, on the fifth floor, right outside the elevator. She looked at me but continued to answer a question Charlie had asked. I repeated my question. She then confirmed that the man did reside on the fifth floor, in the room right outside the elevator. Right, where Candy and I felt the pain. I told Candy while in front of that door that I see this man crawling towards his room each night.
We left and got into our cars. At this time, Samantha started looking through her phone, at the pictures she had snapped when Rose had taken over. Here's the photo Samantha took. Charlie calls this ectoplasm which is a supernatural viscous substance that exudes from the body of a medium during a spiritualistic trance and form the material for the manifestation of spirits. Some would say it is a reflection off of the lights. Look at the other pictures. They don't have light flares. Samantha snapped the shot at the exact moment I felt her presence lift out of me. I felt her relief that we understood she had to stay there and her relief that she was not going to be forced to leave.
When we got back to The Clown Hotel, I walked into Charlie and Samantha's room. Samantha looked at me and said, "You are not right. Something is still with you. You are not right." And I wasn't. The moment I got to The Clown Motel, I started feeling the energies from the graveyard that sits right next to the office. I was feeling a bit pensive after feeling Rose's emotions go through me. Of what she experienced and is still experiencing at the Mizpah hotel. She yearns to be with the man she loves and will forever be wandering the hallways searching for him.
It took me a couple of days to shake the feelings I had from my visit to Tonopah and especially the Mizpah Hotel. I feel the pull for us to return. We already know about Rose, the Lady In Red. We need to find out what is keeping the children and the minors from moving on. We will be returning to the Mizpah Hotel. Hopefully sooner than later.
